Capoeira Angola (Nov 10th) 9-11

Dates: 11/10/2010 Times: 21:00 - 23:00 Location: Exchange Dublin

Capoeira is part fight, part dance, part ritual, originating from the tradition of slave resistance in Brazil. The Angola form emphasizes slow, deceptive movement and good-natured trickery. Hitting the opponent directly or intentionally is frowned upon and the aim is rather to suggest movement of a hit and avoid it gracefully.

The Capoeira game takes place in a circular area called the “roda”, or “circle” in Portuguese. formed by the same Capoeiristas and participants. The game is played to the rhythm of music specifically composed for capoeira, and classes include training in the musical instruments, songs, and Afro-Brazilian culture.

Capoeira Angola in Exchange Dublin is proudly facilitated by Grupo Capoeira Angola Nacao Zumbi.
